The Department of History promotes the study of history, society and culture of Maharashtra, India and the entire world. It undertakes teaching, research and extension activities as well as creates awareness among the students about historical places, cultural tourism and religious places etc. It also conducts 'Modi Lipi Course'. The prime motive of this course is to study archaeological documents as well as undertake historical research. The Department Organizes activities like Posters presentation, Wall paper, Seminars, Guest lectures, Study tours at historical places etc. The best practice of department is to reminisce of freedom fighters in Sangli City by broadcasting their contribution in Indian Freedom movement.
